Darren Beer, known professionally as Darren Jay, was a British electronic music producer and DJ. He began his career in 1990 working for Tone Def Records. His initial releases included collaborations such as Handsome Technique EP with Special K and "Nice and Slow." In the mid-1990s, he opened Prime Time Wax, releasing ten singles, including a notable track that sold Twenty Thousand copies. As an A&R at MCA Music, Jay was responsible for compiling Total Science 1–3 and several mix albums under Moonshine Music. In 1997, he founded Mecca Records, which produced two Top-20 hits. Darr...
