Daniel Laurent Schutte, born on December 28, 1947, in Neenah, Wisconsin, is an
American composer of Catholic and contemporary Christian liturgical music. As a
Jesuit seminarian, he co-founded the St. Louis Jesuits, who popularized
contemporary church music in English. Their album Earthen Vessels sold over one
million copies. Schutte left the Society of Jesus in 1986 but continued
composing, releasing nine solo collections with OCP Publications. Notable
