Leola B. Henton, known professionally as Coot Grant, was born on June 17, 1893,
in Birmingham, Alabama. She was an American classic female blues, country blues,
and vaudeville singer and songwriter who began her career in vaudeville at age
seven in Atlanta, Georgia. She toured internationally before marrying Isiah I.
Grant in 1913. After his death in 1920, she married Wesley "Kid" Wilson, and
they formed a popular duo performing in various shows. They recorded with
