Cold Blood, an American R&B horn funk band, was founded in 1968 by Larry Field
and based in the East Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area. The group
initially gained prominence in 1969 when rock impresario Bill Graham signed them
after an audition, leading to performances at the Fillmore West in San
Francisco. Their lead singer, Lydia Pense, was often compared to Janis Joplin
and played a significant role in the band's early success. Cold Blood released
their self-titled debut album Cold Blood in 1969, followed by Sisyphus in 1970.
