Cody Johnson is an American country singer-songwriter from Sebastopol, Texas, where he was born on May 21, 1987. He started playing music at the age of 12, but delayed the launch of his solo career to work as a bull rider for rodeos and a prison guard first. He then released his debut album, Black and White Label, on his own CoJo label in 2006 and sold CDs from the back of his pick-up truck on the rodeo circuit.
