Claude Luter
Claude Luter, born on July 23, 1923 in Paris, was a French clarinetist, soprano
saxophonist, and jazz bandleader. He started his career at the Caveau des
Lorientais in Paris from 1946. His breakthrough came in 1947 with an appearance
in America Jazz 47 alongside Tyree Glenn. He also collaborated extensively with
Sidney Bechet. Notable performances included the Nice Jazz Festival in 1948 and
the Paris Jazz Festival in 1949. Luter toured internationally, including visits
