Christian Georges Pierre Chevallier (born July 12, 1930) was a French jazz
pianist, composer, and arranger from Angers. Chevallier began playing piano at
age five and pursued a career in jazz after hearing Jack Diéval on the radio in
1947. From 1948 to 1950, the pianist performed at the Tabou club in Paris. In
1954, the artist signed with Columbia and arranged big band compositions for
musicians including Chet Baker and Roy Haynes. Chevallier received the Prix
Django Reinhardt and the Prix Stan Kenton in 1956 for the album Formidable. The
