Chicago Symphony Chorus
The Chicago Symphony Chorus began in Chicago, United States, on
September 22 1957. It emerged from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s initiative
to create a dedicated choral ensemble. The first breakthrough came when Margaret
Hillis organized and trained the chorus for the season’s subscription concerts,
debuting with "Messiah" and "Requiem" under Fritz Reiner and Bruno Walter. Over
the next decades the chorus released recordings and performed major works
including "Missa solemnis" and "Mass in B Minor", earning ten Grammy Awards for
