Charles Fox
Charles Ira Fox was born on 30 October 1940 in the Bronx, New York, and began
his musical journey as a jazz pianist under Lennie Tristano before studying with
Nadia Boulanger and Vladimir Ussachevsky. After early work arranging for Latin
artists and the Tonight Show Orchestra, Fox secured a breakthrough with the
theme for Love, American Style in 1970, collaborating with Arnold Margolin. He
followed this with the iconic "Killing Me Softly with His Song" in 1972, which
earned a Grammy Award for Song of the Year in 1973 and became a worldwide hit
for Roberta Flack and later the Fuge...
