竹中尚人, known as Char, was born 16 June 1955 in Togoshi, Shinagawa, Japan. He
learned piano in elementary school and guitar at eight, becoming a session
guitarist while still in junior high. Char’s breakthrough arrived in 1976 with
the single "Navy Blue" and the self‑titled album Char on Canyon Records. In 1978
he joined Johnny Yoshinaga and Louise Louis Kabe to form Johnny, Louis & Char,
later renamed Pink Cloud in 1982, producing four albums before the group
disbanded in 1994.His solo work includes U.S.J. (1981), Psyche (1988), and
