Cecilia Veronica "CeCe" Peniston, born on September 6, 1969, in Dayton, Ohio, is an American singer, songwriter, and actor. Raised primarily in Phoenix, Arizona, Peniston began singing at church and participating in local talent shows from a young age. Her music career commenced in January 1991 when she recorded backup vocals for Tonya Davis, known as Overweight Pooch, on the album Female Preacher.
