Carroll O'Connor, born John Carroll O’Connor on August 2, 1924 in Manhattan, New
York City, was an American singer. After serving in the United States Merchant
Marine during World War II and studying at various institutions, including Wake
Forest University and the University of Montana, O'Connor began his acting
career in Dublin. His breakthrough as a singer came with the release of "Those
Were The Days" (All In The Family theme) in 1971. This theme song from the
popular sitcom All in the Family became one of his most recognized works.
