Carrie Newcomer, born on May 25, 1958 in Dowagiac, Michigan, is an American
singer and songwriter. She began writing songs as a teenager and performing
locally. In the 1980s, she was part of the pop-folk group Stone Soup. Newcomer's
solo career started with her debut album Visions and Dreams in 1991. Subsequent
albums include An Angel At My Shoulder (1994), The Bird or the Wing (1995), and
My True Name (1998). In 2003, she compiled a best-of collection titled Betty's
