Camille Howard
Camille Howard, born Camille Agnes Browning on March 29, 1914, in Galveston,
Texas, was an American rhythm and blues pianist and singer. She began her career
as a member of the Cotton Tavern Trio during her teens and later performed as a
club musician in Galveston. In the early 1940s, Howard moved to California and
joined Roy Milton's Solid Senders, where she played piano on their hit "R.M.
Blues" (1945). Her breakthrough came with "X-Temporaneous Boogie" (1948), which
reached number 7 on the R&B chart and sold nearly a quarter of a million copies.
