Carlos Manuel Moutinho Paiva dos Santos Duarte, known as Camané, was born in
Oeiras, Portugal. He started his musical career at age 13 after winning the
Grande Noite do Fado competition and released his first album produced by
António Chainho in 1979. His breakthrough came with involvement in music theater
productions under Filipe la Féria and participation in the Noites da Fado at
Teatro da Comuna, produced by Aldina Duarte. In 1995, Camané released his first
