Pandit Budhaditya Mukherjee, born in 1955 in Bhilai, India, is a sitarist and
surbahar maestro of the Imdadkhani gharana. He began his musical training at age
five under his father, Acharya Pandit Bimalendu Mukherjee. By 1970, Mukherjee
had won two national-level music competitions and received endorsements from
filmmaker Satyajit Ray and veena great Balachander. In the same year, he
released his debut album Sitar Wizard. He became a grade-A artist with All India
