Malcom Bruce Turner, born on July 5, 1922 in Saltburn‑by‑the‑Sea, North Yorkshire, England, was an English jazz saxophonist, clarinetist and bandleader. He learned clarinet in school and switched to alto saxophone while serving in the Royal Air Force in 1943, later studying under Lee Konitz in New York City in 1950. Turner’s early career included stints with Freddy Randall from 1948 to 1953 and a quartet with Dill Jones and Peter Ind on the Queen Mary.
