Brian Stokes Mitchell
Brian Stokes Mitchell, born on October 31, 1957, in Seattle, Washington, is an
American actor and singer. He began his acting career while attending Patrick
Henry High School in San Diego, California. His first Broadway performance was
in the musical Mail in 1988, which earned him a Theatre World Award. His
breakthrough role came with the musical Ragtime, where he originated the part of
Coalhouse Walker Jr., earning a Tony Award nomination for Best Actor in a
Musical in 1998. He went on to win the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical
