Brian David Robertson was born 12 February 1956 in Clarkston, Scotland, and grew up playing cello and piano before switching to guitar and drums. He joined Thin Lizzy in 1974, where the twin‑guitar attack he created with Scott Gorham underlined the band’s rise; the group released Nightlife, Fighting, Jailbreak, Johnny the Fox, and Bad Reputation, and recorded Live and Dangerous in 1978, which reached number  7 on the UK Albums Chart.
