Brian Melvin
Brian Melvin, born November 1, 1958, in San Francisco, California, is an
American jazz drummer, percussionist, educator, and composer. Renowned for his
versatility, he has performed and recorded with leading jazz artists including
Jaco Pastorius, Joe Henderson, Mike Stern, John Scofield, Michael Brecker, and
Joe Lovano. One of his most notable collaborations was with Pastorius, with whom
he recorded five albums, including Standards Zone (1986). After moving to New
