Brandi Disterheft, born in 1980 in Vancouver, Canada, is a jazz musician known
for her skills as a double bass player, composer, and singer. She grew up in
North Vancouver and began performing with her mother, a jazz organist and
pianist from Chicago, during her school years at Handsworth Secondary School.
After graduating, Disterheft received a scholarship to study at Humber College
in Toronto under Don Thompson and also studied with Rufus Reid, Rodney Whitaker,
