Boudewijn de Groot, born Frank Boudewijn de Groot in a Japanese concentration
camp near Batavia (now Jakarta), is a Dutch singer-songwriter. He moved to the
Netherlands with his family in 1946 and later lived in Haarlem and Heemstede. De
Groot's musical journey began in 1960 when he met lyricist Lennaert Nijgh at
high school, leading to early singles like "Strand" (1964) and "Noordzee"
(1964). His breakthrough came with the hit single "Meisje van 16" in 1966. De
