Justin Vernon, born on 25 March 1980 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, was the founding
vocalist, guitarist, and keyboardist of the American indie folk project
Bon Iver. He developed an interest in music while working with the indie rock
band The Rosebuds and recorded the first songs that would later become For Emma,
Forever Ago. In 2007, Vernon released the EP Blood Bank, where the single
"Skinny Love" drew attention, leading to a contract with Jagjaguwar and later
