Robert Waltrip Short, also known as Bobby Short, born on September 15, 1924 in Danville, Illinois, was an American cabaret singer and pianist. He began performing in Chicago dance halls at age 11 and launched his professional career in the 1940s. Early releases included Bobby Short (1956) and Sing Me A Swing Song (1958). He recorded The Mad Twenties (1959), On The East Side (1960), Bobby Short Loves Cole Porter (1971) and Bobby Short Celebrates Rodgers & Hart (1975).
