Bobby Henderson Powell is an American rhythm and blues and gospel singer and pianist from Louisiana born in 1943. Powell, who is blind, debuted with the single “What Are You Trying to Do to Me” (1965). Recognition increased with the recording “C.C. Rider” (1966), which reached Number 1 on the Cash Box R&B chart, number 12 on the Billboard R&B chart, and number 76 on the pop chart.
