Bobby Capó was a Puerto Rican singer, songwriter and composer born in 1921 in Coamo. Born Félix Manuel Rodríguez Capó, he adopted his mother's surname for his professional career. In the early 1940s, Capó moved to New York City where he joined the quartet Cuarteto Victoria and the orchestra of Xavier Cugat. He was also a television host and a musical director. Capó composed numerous songs that became hits for other artists, including “El negro bembón” and “El bardo”.
