Bleachers began in 2014 as the solo project of Jack Antonoff, then best known as
guitarist for Fun., and quickly became the main outlet for his widescreen, New
Jersey-rooted take on synth-pop, indie rock, and heartland pop. Written partly
while Antonoff was touring with Fun. and shaped by his love of John Hughes-era
film soundtracks, Bleachers’ debut single, “I Wanna Get Better,” reached number
one on Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart and introduced the sound of 2014’s
