William Endfield Steinberg (born February 26 1950 in Fresno, California) was an
American songwriter, producer, guitarist, and singer who began his musical
journey in Palm Springs after attending Cate School and Bard College. In the
early 1980s, his group Billy Thermal produced the single "How Do I Make You?",
which Linda Ronstadt recorded for her 1980 album Mad Love, launching Steinberg’s
songwriting career. He then partnered with Tom Kelly, co‑writing chart‑topping
