Billy Kyle
Billy Kyle, born William Osborne Kyle on July 14, 1914 in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania, was a jazz pianist. He began studying piano at a young age and
joined local orchestras by 1929. In the 1930s, Kyle moved to New York City and
performed with bands led by Tiny Bradshaw, Lucky Millinder and the Mills Blue
Rhythm Band. Kyle served in the military from 1942 to the end of World War II.
Post-war, he rejoined John Kirby's orchestra and worked with Sy Oliver in 1947
before forming his own band. From 1953 until his death, Kyle played with Louis
