Lucille "Billie" Poole, born on March 21, 1929, in Edwardsville, Illinois, was
an American jazz and blues singer. In 1943, she moved to California and began
performing with choirs around San Francisco. Her career took a significant turn
when she acted in the German/French movie The Heroes are Tired/Les héros sont
fatigués in 1954. Poole made recordings with Art Simmons in 1959, supported by
notable musicians such as Clark Terry and Kenny Clarke. She appeared regularly
on the French TV series 'Jazz Memories' through 1960. Her first album,
