Benjamin Waters, also known as Benny Waters, born on January 23, 1902, in
Brighton, Baltimore, Maryland, was an American jazz saxophonist and clarinetist.
He started on organ, then switched to clarinet and saxophone. In 1918, he joined
Charly Miller's band. From 1926 to 1931, he played with Charlie Johnson's band
and collaborated with King Oliver, Fletcher Henderson, and Claude Hopkins. In
the 1940s, Waters performed with the Jimmie Lunceford Orchestra and Roy Milton
before leading his own band at New York's Red Mill. He moved to Paris in 1952
