Benjamin Samberg, known professionally as Benny Bell, was born on March 21,
1906, in New York City. He began his career as a singer-songwriter and gained
popularity in the 1940s, with a notable comeback in the 1970s. His first record,
"The Alimony Blues" (backed with "Fast Asleep on a Mountain"), was released for
Plaza Records in December 1929. Bell wrote approximately 600 songs throughout
