Bennie Wallace, born on November 18, 1946, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, is an
American saxophonist. Influenced by various genres including rhythm and blues
and gospel, he began performing in local clubs. He studied clarinet at the
University of Tennessee before moving to New York City in 1971. Wallace's first
recordings were on Friends by Oregon in 1976. He formed his own trios starting
in 1977, collaborating with musicians like Tommy Flanagan and Chick Corea.
