Beginner—known until 2003 as Absolute Beginner—is the Hamburg hip-hop trio consisting of Jan Delay, Denyo, and DJ Mad, who have been making music together since the early ’90s. They started out with a larger lineup under the English name Absolute Beginners, until they switched to German and released their socially critical debut EP Gotting in 1994 under the band name Absolute Beginner, followed by their debut album Flashnizm (1996).
