Bashar Murad
Bashar Murad, born بشار مراد on February 7, 1993 in East Jerusalem, is a
Palestinian singer-songwriter and LGBT+ activist. He began his career by
uploading cover versions of popular songs on YouTube in 2009, eventually
transitioning to original compositions with a Middle Eastern touch. In 2014,
after studying at Bridgewater College in Virginia, Murad returned to East
Jerusalem and gained an online following through his Arabic and English singles.
His debut EP Maskhara was released in June 2021. Murad's music often addresses
political and social issues.
