Bad Gyal, the stage name of Alba Farelo, is a Catalan singer born on March 7,
1997, in Vilassar de Mar, near Barcelona. She first drew attention in 2016 with
“Pai,” a Catalan-language rework of Rihanna’s “Work,” and quickly defined a
sound that mixed dancehall, reggaeton, electronic club music, and pop. Early
singles such as “Fiebre,” “Indapanden,” and “Jacaranda” helped establish her as
one of Spain’s most distinctive urban voices, while her use of Catalan, Spanish,
