Ayten Alpman is a Turkish singer. She was born in Istanbul, Turkey, on October
10, 1929. After completing her high school education, she began her singing
career in the 1950s. Encouraged by Turkish producer Arif Mardin, Alpman
initially focused on jazz. In 1959, she released her first record,
Sayonara/Passion Flower. Ayten Alpman gained widespread fame in 1974 with her
song "Memleketim" ("My Country"), which became a patriotic anthem during the
