Piazzolla is credited with revolutionising and modernising traditional tango by
blending it with jazz and classical music. As the architect of a series of
groundbreaking ensembles, his vast catalogue of innovative compositions and
arrangements effectively formed the basis of the re-birth of tango, which was
accorded the name 'nuevo tango'.
