In 1981, Asia, the archetypal progressive rock supergroup, brought together
Steve Howe (Yes), John Wetton (King Crimson), Carl Palmer (Emerson, Lake &
Palmer) and Geoff Downes (The Buggles). After a first album that went against
the grain, and a few hits ("Heat of the Moment" in 1982, "Don't Cry" in 1983),
the English band loved by the Americans underwent personnel changes with each
record. Led for a time by John Payne from 1992 to 2006, Asia reunited with its
four original members for the 2008 album Phoenix . After touring with Yes, they
