Arthur William Barrow (born 28 February 1952) is an American
multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer. He established a reputation as a
bass guitarist, keyboardist, and rehearsal director for Frank Zappa between 1978
and 1981. After studying composition and electronic music at North Texas State
University, Barrow moved to Los Angeles, contributing synthesizer to The Doors
album An American Prayer (1978). He gained recognition as Zappa’s
“clonemeister,” directing rehearsals and performing on over 20 albums, including
