Ares Tavolazzi, born on July 12, 1948, in Ferrara, Italy, is a jazz musician. He
studied cello and double bass at the Girolamo Frescobaldi Conservatory in his
hometown. Tavolazzi began his professional music career as a bassist in a beat
band led by Carmen Villani. In 1969, he formed the Pleasure Machine with Ellade
Bandini and Vince Tempera, and contributed to albums like Francesco Guccinis
L'isola non trovata (1970) and I Giganti's Terra in bocca (1971). After the
Pleasure Machine's disbandment, Tavolazzi joined the fusion band Area in 1973.
