Anton Goosen, born 5 March 1946 in Middelburg, Eastern Cape, South Africa, is a
singer and songwriter. Despite academic challenges where teachers considered
placing him in a special class, and his expulsion from boarding school at 17,
Goosen formed his high school's first rock band that year. He began writing
songs for other artists, notably Sonja Herholdt. In 1979, Goosen released his
debut album Boy Van Die Suburbs, the first Afrikaans-language album of his own
