Annie Lennox
The daughter of a cook and a shipyard worker living in humble conditions, Annie
Lennox's early prowess as a singer and pianist paved the way for her to become
one of the UK's most popular and enduring artists. Winning a place at London's
Royal Academy of Music, she studied flute and classical music, but her life was
transformed after meeting musician Dave Stewart. Their first band together The
Tourists had a couple of minor hits, but it was their synth-pop band Eurythmics
which turned Lennox into an international superstar with a string of massive
