Aneka (born November 20, 1947, in Marykirk, Scotland) is a British singer
considered a defining voice of the early 1980s in the Eurodisco and pop genres.
Starting in the late 1970s, she initially worked as a folk singer under her real
name, Mary Sandeman. In 1981, she launched the Aneka project, which focused on a
stylistic shift toward pop and disco. The project quickly became a unique
international phenomenon on the European pop scene. She achieved her commercial
