Andreea Georgiana Bălan, born on June 23, 1984, in Ploiești, Romania, is a
Romanian singer. She began performing locally at age ten and gained attention
from Mihai Constantinescu. In 1997, she qualified for the Romanian Eurovision
Song Contest pre-selection but was disqualified due to age restrictions. The
following year, Bălan released her debut album Amețiți de fum. In late 1998, she
formed the duo Andrè with Andreea Antonescu, releasing several successful albums
