Andi Siti Meriem Nurul Kusumawardhani Mattalatta, known professionally as Andi
Meriem Matalatta, was an Indonesian pop singer born on August 31, 1957, in
Makassar, Sulawesi. Her hit releases during this period earned her the nickname
"The Pearl from the South." Notable songs include "Januari," a 1980 release
written by Dadang S. Manaf. In addition to her solo work, she collaborated with
other prominent Indonesian artists. Matalatta passed away on June 4, 2010, in
Zoetermeer, the Netherlands, due to complications from multiple illnesses.
