Ana María Martínez, born in 1971 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, is a Puerto Rican
soprano who began her musical education at the Boston Conservatory before
completing a Bachelor's and a Master's at the Juilliard School. Her breakthrough
came with her debut at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires as Rusalka, followed by
roles at the Paris Opera and the Vienna State Opera. She earned the 1994 Eleanor
McCollum Award, the 1995 Pepita Embil Award, the 2001 Latin Grammy for Merlin,
the 2020 Opera News Award, and the 2026 Texas State Musician‑Classical honor.
