Amado Batista (born 17 February 1951 in Catalão, Goiás, after a childhood on a
farm in what is now Davinópolis) is a Brazilian singer-songwriter whose style
brought together romantic popular song, viola-rooted phrasing, and the melodic
pull of Jovem Guarda. After moving to Goiânia at 14, he worked a series of small
