Alka Vuica, born on June 8, 1961, in Pula, Croatia, is a singer and songwriter.
She began writing songs at a young age and moved to Zagreb at 18, where she
started her career as a journalist and songwriter. In the 1980s, Vuica penned
hits for popular Yugoslav acts such as Željko Bebek, Oliver Mandić, and Josipa
Lisac. Her breakthrough came in 1994 with her debut solo album Laži Me, which
included the hit "Laži Me". Throughout the 1990s, she released several albums,
including Za Tebe Čuvam Sebe (1995), Alkatraz (1997), and Balkan Girl (1999).
