Alexander Abreu Manresa, born on September 6, 1976 in Cienfuegos, Cuba, was a
Cuban trumpeter, composer, arranger, and singer. A graduate of Havana's National
School of Art, he later taught trumpet at the same institution and became a
professor of jazz and Cuban music at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in
Copenhagen. In 2007, Abreu formed Havana D’Primera, featuring musicians from
prominent timba ensembles. Their debut album, Haciendo Historias, topped the
